For some of us, our career choices are clear, and for others, our career path appears to us through events and values we develop later in life. For Dr. Olin, his career path started when his life was turned around with chiropractic care.
Meet Dr. Olin. Severe migraines would incapacitate him and leave him feeling battered and bruised for days before he turned to chiropractic care for treatment – and became a chiropractor himself.
“I was 18 years old and had just completed my first year of university. During the summer of 1990, I began to experience the debilitating effects of migraine headaches. After my first episode, which resulted in a visit to a local emergency room, I was advised to regularly carry Tylenol 3’s and Gravol in the event I began to experience a migraine.
Through that summer I continued to have migraine headaches. When the aura occurred I would take a Tylenol 3 and Gravol and go to bed. When I’d wake up I would have a bruised head sensation for about 72 hours. During a migraine episode I would sleep through an entire day. I realized this could not continue.
A health care professional advised me to consider visiting a chiropractor. I received my first chiropractic treatment that summer. Those treatments fully resolved my migraine problem.
After such a positive experience, and as a university student interested in pursuing a healthcare career, I started to seriously consider the idea of studying to become a Chiropractor once I completed my BA in Science.
After seven years of intensive education, I graduated as a chiropractor in 1997. Now 19 years into my chiropractic career and 26 years as a chiropractic patient, I continue to enjoy what our profession has to offer our patients each and every day.”
